Safeguarding & Child Protection

All adults in the Nursery are expected to work within the Local Authority Guidance for Safer Working Practice. This means for example that;

Staff are advised not to have parents as friends on social networking sites e.g. Facebook.

Staff mobile phones are switched off during working hours and can only be used in the staff room.

We also ask parents and visitors not to use their mobile phones in the Nursery.

Parents should be aware that the school would take any reasonable action to ensure the safety of its pupils. In cases where the school has reason to be concerned that a child may be subject to significant harm, ill treatment, neglect or other forms of abuse, staff have no alternative but to follow Sunderland Safeguarding Children Board procedures and inform Children’s Services of their concern.

The Designated Safeguarding Lead for Child Protection in the Nursery is Sarah Dixon-Jones, the deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead is Beverly Hughes. Any person in the Nursery who receives disclosure of abuse and/or has concerns about a child or family should tell the Designated Safeguarding Leads and no one else.

Copies of Nursery Policies and Procedures are accessible online or are available for parents to read in the EYFS Policy file in the porch.
